After a quiet summer in terms of racing I have decided to do a 24 hour mountain bike race solo. This will be my first attempt. I am not aiming for a top ten finish. I am aiming to do the best I can do with training my hectic lifestyle will allow. I have a full time management job, I have a partner and I have a house that is half renovated so finding time is always a challenge for me.
My training started last year in September. I was training a lot for a social ride, Around the Bay in a Day. This year we completed 220kms on the road from Melbourne to Portsea and back. I was training a lot! I was informed we were to be riding with a quick group. To help with my training I was doing I employed a Personal Training (http://www.fitstoppt.com.au/). I also employed a coach for a couple of months but unfortunately this didn’t work for me so I surfed the internet and found a training program from Chris Eatough, a six time world mountain bike champion. It is a little light on for me so I have tailored it to suit me.
The race is on the 8th and 9th of May. Over the next several weeks I will be recording my daily workload and how I am dealing with it so watch this space.
