Stage 5 (Thursday)

Stage 5 was a 23kms time trial leaving from the golf course east of town. We headed off in reverse placing order at 30 second intervals. Once again me leg were quite heavy but fortunately it didn’t take me too long to settle into my rhythm. The kilometres seem to fly by. This was a great course with a lot of single track. I got held up by a couple riders but managed to get past them without too many problems.

Once again I was concentrating on eating and drinking, watching the kilometres click over, making sure I took in enough. Before I realised it I was ½ way and it had only taken about 35 minutes so I put the hammer down.

The last three kilometres were on a flat dirt road into a head wind which suited me to a tea. This was the first time all race I changed up to the big chain ring on the front.

Unfortunately my little rival with Woz and Tim, the two Queensland guys I have been hanging around with beat me by 3 minutes and a minute. Well have to see whether I can get them tonight on the night stage.
