Stage 3 (Tuesday)

Stage 3 was run just north of town. It was a 54km stage, almost all single track.
This was an amazing stage, very fast and flowing besides the sandy tracks that often required walking.

It was about 1 hour and 11 minutes in to the stage when I started not feeling so good. It started with some lower back pain. Then I started getting some pain between my thumb and first finger on my left hand. This was caused by hanging onto the bars and breaking. At the 40km point I started cramping. Lucky the cramps weren’t too bad and I managed to push on.

There was definitely a point in this stage that I asked myself why I mountain bike but as per normal after the race I looked back and realised I had a fantastic time on some sweet tracks.
